All equipment is manufactured on site by MacaulaySoils, we can therefore customise any item to suit the exact requirements of our clients. Please feel free to contact us if there is anything specific that you require.

Soil Core

Soil Cores

Soil cores can be manufactured to a variety of sizes. One edge is chamfered to aid soil penetration and the cores are constructed from seamless stainless steel (1.8 mm). Typical sizes are 75mm diameter by 50 or 75 mm high.

Cost:

£11.52 per core

Core Striking Plate

Corer Striking Plates

Where compression of soil samples must be avoided, e.g. taking soil cores for bulk density determinations, striking plates are manufactured. These fit over soils cores and contain a 10mm gap for soil to prortrude from the top of the cores, thus stopping compression of the soil core. These are manufactured from solid brass stock to avoid damage to the soil cores. The sides of the striking plates are chamfered to aid soil penetration. We suggest the use of a plastic faced mallet when using the striking plates to prolong their life.

Cost:

£79.90 per striking plate

Peat Corer

Peat Corers

Peat corers are manufactured in a variety of lengths to the requirements of the client. Constructed entirely from stainless steel the box section construction ensures rigidity when penetrating peat. Extraction of samples are aided by the sliding top piece. Handles are of solid stainless steel running in one piece through the corer. All penetrating surfaces are chamfered to aid penetration.

Cost:

£425.00 per peat corer

Soil AugerSoil Augers

Soil augers are suitable for the removal of soil samples from surface layers quickly. Often used to take numerous small samples from a wide area, the samples are then bulked to provide one sample which is representative of the area sampled.

They are manufactured from mild steel.

Cost:

£105.00 per auger
